  • I believe that public safety is when people feel confident that they can go about their lives without fear of having their person or their property harmed by others, including by law enforcement and by government. We can measure progress towards this with surveys of both crime statistics and individuals’ perception of their own safety.

  • I support protecting the reforms we have enacted to ensure that law enforcement is accountable to the community and that they use force only when necessary. I also support increased training for law enforcement officers to support their ability to protect the public while rebuilding trust with the communities they serve. Finally I will listen to the survivors of police violence and the families of those killed by police violence about the solutions that they think are necessary.

  • I support moving, where practical, enforcement of traffic safety laws to automated traffic cameras which are less subject to subjectivity and bias than officer enforcement.
